Workshops

Tango Cheshire runs regular workshops. These workshops are designed to enhance your connection to the floor, your connection to the music, and your connection to each other. Unless specified, our workshops are suitable for all levels (minimum 6 months experience) and are layered so that everybody develops no matter your experience.

Features of our workshops are:

  • Followers are given equal focus to develop and learn. Followers are not "just there so the leaders can learn a move".
  • In general, we look at topics that we do not teach in our regular classes.
  • Our mixed level workshops are layered so that the material gets more challenging as the workshop progresses. This means everyone will develop and can practice the material that fits their experience level.
  • We do not teach moves and sequences that only work with another person who attended the same workshop. We study ideas, technique, movements, and musicality that can be applied outside of the workshop.

Depending on the number of participants our workshops are held either in Prestbury Village Hall or at our Macclesfield studio.

Developing your Tango to the Next Level

Finding Quebrada Moments

Experience level - Minimum 1 year and able to lead/follow all of the material from our Basic Technique course. This workshop is ideal for leaders, followers, and dual role dancers looking to improve their dancing.

Our next workshop is on Sunday 14th June 2026. This is the first in a series of related workshops looking at quebradas. You can join any workshop in this series without having attended the previous workshops as they look at a different applications. In these workshops we will investigate different opportunities to to find moments to execute the quebrada movement.

For leaders we study the underlying figure or structure that enables the quebrada possibility and then develop the quebrada technique so that it can be danced socially.

For followers we offer experience of a Tango possibility that you may not have encountered and develop the sensitivity of your following technique so that your body can expressively dance the possibility and other related possibilities rather than just follow (or fail to follow).

The workshop includes a natural break for refreshments.

We have our June Tea Dance after the workshop from 1pm to 5pm so stay to dance and practice your refined skills.
