Workshops

Tango Cheshire runs regular workshops. These workshops are designed to enhance your connection to the floor, your connection to the music, and your connection to each other. Unless specified, our workshops are suitable for all levels (minimum 6 months experience) and are layered so that everybody develops no matter your experience.

Features of our workshops are:

• Followers are given equal focus to develop and learn. Followers are not "just there so the leaders can learn a move".
• In general, we look at topics that we do not teach in our regular classes.
• Our mixed level workshops are layered so that the material gets more challenging as the workshop progresses. This means everyone will develop and can practice the material that fits their experience level.
• We do not teach moves and sequences that only work with another person who attended the same workshop. We study ideas, technique, movements, and musicality that can be applied outside of the workshop.

Depending on the number of participants our workshops are held either in Prestbury Village Hall or at our Macclesfield studio.

Developing your Tango to the Next Level

Troilo-Rivero, building lyrical bridges

Our next workshop is on Saturday 22nd March 2025. The music of Aníbal Troilo and Edmundo Rivero is especially challenging for dancers because of the many musical layers and the advanced orchestration.

We will be looking at dance techniques and structures that allow us to apply a deeper and more meaningful interpretation to what we hear.

As a follower you will be working on the skills that allow full immersion in the dance, your presence to become an equal partner, and your expression to fill the dance with your input and interpretation.

As a leader you will discover how to develop and use intensity of connection, couple stability, and fine control as tools to create intimate intra-couple musical expression.

Whilst this workshop is focused on the music of Troilo/Rivero, the techniques and structures can then be applied to many other orchestras that are played at the milonga.

The workshop includes a natural break for refreshments.
